Off we went to meet the owner of the studio, she told us to meet outside the mayors office as there were no house numbers. We arrived after finding out that the road signs were not that helpful. Dominique gave us a very warm welcome, showing us everything we needed to know about the place, walks we could do from the studio and where to visit. We were surprised how well equipped the place was, even supplies of washing up liquid and aluminium foil. We had stocked up on food before as we Dominique told us that at this time of year, the nearest open shop was 19km away, didn’t want to pop out for a pint of milk.
The weather was fantastic for the time of year, we had rain once during one afternoon apart from that it was sunny with the occasional clouds, the temperature hit 19C on the first day but that was the best for the week.
Towers, there were tours as they call them everywhere. Lookout posts against enemies, when we drove around we would come into another little cove and discover a tour, some were better looked after and some in ruins.
The north of the island is the rocky mountainous part we had fun exploring little coves, and walking along coastal paths, we visited the south with its contrasting sandy beaches, flat marshlands and nature reserves. Jutta enjoys ports and marinas so we stopped and looked at the yachts, cruisers and motorboats, they make for some nice picturesque places. We found some great places to stop and have picnics read our Anglo-French Bible sat on a beach or overlooking the mountains.
It was a relaxing time for us, the studio was just perfect, in a tranquil village setting the weather and surrounding made for a great time.
