Drill-Rig

We found WATER! Finally the drilling has finished. It started of with two meetings with two mechanics (Andy and Alex) and a few pastors around this area to discuss the cost. The rig has not been used for 4/5 years, so it needed quite a few repairs before it could be used. Andy had lots of work to do.

They drove the drilling machine to the orphanage where they prepared everything to start drilling the same day. Unfortunately during this process there were a few problems: Radiator leak, fuel pump and starter etc. ……

After a few days or maybe a week of repairing the drill it finally worked and you can see on the picture below, a temporary pump is finished. We found water at 70 ft and then stopped at 100 ft allowing for the dry season water table drop. The water pumping and filtration system still needs to be installed.  

The outcome of this project will be clean drinking water for the orphanage and the community. The idea is to start selling bags with purified water in it to have another source of income.
