Internet

Fiber-Optic coming our way

How fast is your internet?
Does it depend on how far you are from the connection box?
We depend on mobile technology here in Guinea. Guinea bypassed all of the fixed line connections going directly mobile. More people are demanding connection to the internet, now the infrastructure is needing to be upgraded. A fibre optic cable has been laid under the sea from Portugal to Guinea Conakry, which is the capital. Now it is making its way further north in the interior.

It is being done by hand, scores of workers dig with pick-axes and shovels.
Another group pull the cable from the roll and lay it in place, and a group concretes it in and refills the hole.

We are so excited, as it is about 60 miles away and working its way along the route principal, but how long will it be! That is the million pound question.
At the moment the internet is user dependent, the more who are on the slower it gets. At 6-8pm it is hard to send an email, but at 5am an email will go as soon as you hit send.
We look forward to a super-fast connection :-)
