Fights

The courthouse after days of violent rioting

Justice administration buildings targeted along with vehicles
Destruction in this impoverished country
The day after the most intense rioting, work starts on building the drainage system for the road before it is tarmacked.
It is as if nothing had happened the day before.
We have had our go-bag ready at the front door if needed. There have been two weeks of intense fighting around the city centre district of our city. 4 young demonstrators have lost their lives and the most shocking death was an ambulance driver who went to collect the body of a demonstrator who had been placed in the mosque. As the ambulance arrived it found itself in-between the rioters and the police, during the scuffles the ambulance driver was beaten to death.
We have been close to evacuating on several times, but the intensity would calm down and we would make the decision to stay, as we are safe and secure in our compound. If we evacuate we are more vulnerable on the roads than at home.
The decision to evacuate is always a hard one. Do you go to early or leave it to late.
At the time of writing the red berets have arrived to bolster the local military who were being over-run by the size of demonstrations.
Most of the rioting is against government and administration buildings.
We have had calm for several days now, lets pray it stays that way.
Prayer Points:
1. Pray for Guinea as unrest has erupted again since the start of the New Year.
2. Pray for those who have lost loved ones.
3. Pray for general safety in these tense times.
