As the carnival music is heard throughout the evening and well into the early morning, a Covid-19 test facility opens in our city. The carnival has permission this year for a 27 night duration, doubled from other years. This is to the backdrop of a rise in cases of Covid as now those with symptoms can be tested at a government facility. The 15 bed ward for quarantine of positive cases was quickly overwhelmed and a makeshift tent is taking the overflow.
5.30 last night, Victor receives a phone call from one of his English teachers at the language centre. He has been contacted by the track and trace system. One of his students had tested positive last Saturday and the health department demanded that the class close and all students and the teacher attend the testing centre on Friday morning at 9am. Victor spoke to line managers and local house leaders here for advice. This led to the closing of the language school for a 10-day period.
Both Victor and Caroline have colds currently. Pray that they will recover quickly as they hunker down in their compound.
Just received a text from the teacher, he is negative and the person who sits directly next to the positive student is also negative.
