Here we are at the Mont Ventoux in France. We drove there Saturday. Cyclists will reach this mountain by the Tour de France 2009. It will be very tiring and exhausting for the cyclists. The Tour de France 2009 will be running from Saturday July 4th to Sunday July 26th 2009, the 96th Tour de France will be made up of 21 stages and will cover a total distance of 3,500 kilometres.

Hier sind wir auf dem Berg Ventoux in Frankreich. Wir sind Samstag auf den Berg gefahren. Fahrradfahrer werden bei der Tour de France auch auf diesen Berg hinaufradeln. Buh, habe einige gesehen, ist total anstrengend und ermuedend fuer die Radfahrer.
Die Tour 2009 ist von Samstag, den 4., bis Sonntag, den 26. Juli 2009, wird die 96. Tour de France in 21 Etappen über eine Distanz von etwa 3.500 km ausgetragen.

The Mont Ventoux has an altitude from 1912 m.
Der Berg hat eine Hoehe von 1912 Metern.

On the way to the mountain we drove through Suze-La-Rousse (picture below):
Suze-La-Rousse is between le Comtat Venaissin and the Dauphiné, it hosts the famous Université du Vin, the Wine University. First mention of it as a village can be traced back to the 13th century. It was a priory of the Order of Saint Benoît in the 11th century. Fief of the Princes of Orange and then of the Maison des Baux, it became a Comté in the course of the 16th century and then, in the 17th century, a Marquisat, dependent on the La Baume-Suze, the last Seigneurs of Suze. You can visit: the chapel Saint-Sébastien, the ancient church, the Grain Hall, the old stone washhouse area, the ampelographic garden (a collection of vine plants from the world-over).

We also saw stones like Stonehenge in England, they were close to Vaison-la-Romaine (picture below)
Wir sahen auch einige Steine, wie es auch welche in England gibt, genannt Stonehenge.

Two dogs left in a campervan, they looked a bit grumpy. Zwei Hunde warten auf ihre Besitzer im Wohnwagen, sie sahen ein bisserl knurrig aus.

Sweets for sale at the top. People bought a lot of gummi bears. Leute kaufen dort wie wild Gummibaerchen. 100g = 2.90 Euro (in Frankreich ist alles teurer als in Deutschland)

The civil aviation radar on the Mont Ventoux

On the way back to St. Paul 3 Chx we made a stop in Malaucène. This is a typical provençal village located in Provence (South of France) at the foot of Mont Ventoux.
The village itself dates from the 10th century. It features Medieval, Gallic and Roman structures (even prehistoric vestiges). The best views are on top of the Calvère located in the middle of the older part of town.

Auf dem Nachhauseweg sind wir dann in Malaucene gestopt. Die beste Aussicht hat man von dem Calvere, was sich in der Mitte der alten Stadt befindet.

On top of Calvere. It reminded us both of the garden Gethsemane. So we took some time to pray and enjoyed the scenery and peace and beauty.
Der Garten dort hat uns beide an den Garten Gethsemane erinnert. So haben wir uns die Zeit genommen zum Beten und uns einfach die Landschaft und Schoenheit angeschaut und den Frieden genossen.

We walked up to another little village called Entrechaux.
Dann sind wir in ein anderes kleines Doerfchen genannt Entrechaux.

Then of to Buisson. Buisson is a small, wine-producing, Knights Templar village, dating back at least as far as the 12th century, and linked since its beginning to the nearby village of Villedieu, with which it produces its principal crop, Côtes-du-Rhône wine, which is sold from their joint winery, le Cellier du Templier.
