God is good

Last Sunday morning was so great, so helpful, so encouraging, and just awesome - just seeing the hand of God moving. We have been praying for quite a long time and bringing our wish to God to find people who take time once a week to meet with us to talk French.

When we arrived here at Massy we started to go for probably 2 months into a French speaking church, but we came out of the service without understanding anything. Then we visited a few other churches and after a while we decided to ‘join’ an English speaking church, we thought we needed to hear a few messages in English. Even though we had afterwards a little snack and chat with people, it didn’t help us practising our French. Also we wanted to join a prayer group or small group, but for a church which meets in Paris and people live there, surely we would have to travel even during the week for at least 1 hour there and back into Paris and we didn’t wanted to invest this time because we need this time doing our (lots) of homework.

After we started with the new school in ‘Les Cedres’ we’ve learnt a lot on paper, but what we’ve really missed was to practice our speaking. We brought it again before God, because it was very much on my heart to find a person who has time and patience to listen to us and also shows interest in what we are doing. Our thoughts were: Surely in Massy there must be Christians where we live, close by, we could meet once a week and practise our speaking and develop our hearing and understanding. So we put more thought into it and decided to go to a small Lutheran church, 15 minutes walk from here. The congregation is small so people have time to talk to us after the service. Hallelujah, this was a start. Then we went away on holiday which was very refreshing and important for us.

When you read this it is almost one Sunday later – so last Sunday we decided to go again. After the service I said to one woman: “We are looking for a person who would like to talk English and we can practise and speak French with.” She reacted in a great way: she gave us two appointments the church will have soon: one bible study group meeting and the other one is a gathering on a Friday for lunch. The Lady told everybody our request and she shared it with a few other friends and shortly after we exchanged emails and phone numbers, so we can arrange some dates for dinner.

We were so happy and thankful! Praise God!
