Vacation in South of France

We took the TGV from Paris to Perpignan, and in spite of the strike the train ran. We’ve found our reserved seats and were glad for them, because of the train before was cancelled people where sitting everywhere, even in the toilet´s. So when Andy went in, the person had to get out, stepping over lots of suitcases. It wasn’t very pleasant, especially after somebody was travel sick and the wagon smelt a bit. I was a bit disappointed, that the TGV wasn’t as fast as I thought it would be.

Tour de la Massane in Argelès sur Mer
One day we took a very long walk. They said in the brochure it takes 3 hours to climb up and 3 hours to get down. But, we had to start from our place, so until we reached the Chateau (you can see on the picture) we already had walked probably 1 ½ hours. The ‘Tour de la Massane’ is very rocky and goes quite up the hill. We had our picnic on top and then climbed back down again. It said on one of the postcards it has 793 m altitude. We could feel our legs and feet. On the picture below, you can see in the left corner this little thing on the top of the hill, this was were we where heading to.

The next day we took it very slowly and went with the bus more Inland, to see The Orgues in Ille-sur-Tet.

The Orgues are amazing rock formations produced by more than 5 million years (it says) of geological history.
These natural chimneys are made up of columns of soft rock, eroded by rain, and overhung by harder rock which has resisted erosion. The combination of earth, water, wind and sun has given birth to a symphony of forms, a mineral gem created by nature.

Our apartment, we had booked online, was small, but had everything we needed in order to cook for ourselves and was only 50 m from the beach. Oh, we loved it. We took long walks, had good food, great weather and just time as a couple. Usually, between June- August many tourist come to visit Argeles sur Mer, but this time of year, it is much quieter, already to ‘cold’ for some.
The 1 Euro bus brought us often from one place to the next, especially one day, when we visited 3 fishing villages. It was beautiful.

In Argeles-sur-Mer we saw this, we thought it was very funny how french people call their police station:
