How do I describe the first week? Have you ever been at a place where things seem so familiar, but at the same time strange?
This is probably how I felt for the last 6 days, since we arrived here, in Guinea. Some things look familiar, which means, I saw them before and there is not a lot of difference: women wear bright colors and carry things on their head, carrying for the babies and Children, people are selling things on the road, etc.
Other things are different to Liberia and Ghana: many people smoking, Muslim women wearing their burka, we haven’t seen many beggars, etc.
Prayer points:
1. We are eating food every day which is bought on the side of the road. Usually, the guardian buys it from ‘a safe place’, which means, we can eat it without any problems. But sometimes it could happen that because the food, with its spice, is new to our stomach, our stomach is a bit complaining. Andy felt sick yesterday during the day, because of that we had to change our program and stay at home (close to the toilet, smile). But yesterday evening he already felt better to travel by car to the team meeting which is every Monday evening. It was quite hard for him to see us all eat African fries (very thin slices of potatoes) with chicken. Today he feels much better, so nothing very serious. But it is still worth praying for our health!
2. At around 9 pm we are feeling already tiered and ready to go to bed. Then usually we still do something like playing cards, talk or watch one of the DVDs you gave us or we have to look through all of our suitcases again, because we needed something and we forgot where we put it. But at 10 pm, we can’t keep our eyes open so we go to sleep under our mosquito net. The rainy season started, which means it is very hot and humid. In the night there is sometimes a breeze going, sometimes not. Because of that sometimes it is hot and sticky in our room. Please pray that our bodies can cope with the heat and also all the bites, and because of that swollen feet.
