Thank you for your emails and encouraging words. Some of you should write their thoughts as comment on my blog. But if you give me your permission I will copy some and post them in, anonymously.
Last night, around 4 am, when the mosques start their loud noise I could not fall asleep again. This is usually the time when I listen to worship music or read the bible. In the mornings I am quite tired.
When Andy and I were talking about what to write this time, we thought about sharing something personal.
Last week we had a work colleague around, we showed our wedding pictures and when we looked at all your lovely faces we felt a bit homesick. Suddenly we realized that we still have a long way to go. Even though it feels that we have been here quite a while, last week it only just came up to 2 months, so still around 19 months to go. Macenta is a nice place but nothing like home!
Many people asked us how we are doing with learning the language. We have almost every day a French lesson. If you would ask me if I am frustrated, I would answer with No. But twice in my dreams I have been dealing with Frustration. Maybe it is because I am not really seeing progress.
Andy say’s that I am speaking much better than when we arrived. Communicating face to face doesn’t seem to be to hard as you can find ways around the differences in language, but what is really hard in speaking on the phone, I, Andy have had to make some phone calls, that is when the difficulty starts and frustration sets in. Apart from that it is fun to walk the streets and talk to people.
I thought I share these things with you as prayer points.
We value your prayers. Through them God is equipping us to do what we do. Thank you!
