Ice-cream

Progress is being made here in the orphanage, upon our arrival the staff and kids were great to get along with, but after a few weeks we steadily saw the older kids stay at a distance. The house parents were becoming a little skeptical of our role, telling the kids not to play with us.
We were invited to eat soup at a team social last week, although the soup was indeed a type of trifle. Above all whilst talking, we found that the house parents thought we were second in command behind the pastor. After we cleared the air with them, explaining our role was just living here until we found accommodation. So much has changed that we fixed up the mini-bus here. Saturday afternoon we took ten kids and one house parent out for ice-cream, we will take the rest next weekend. Everyone is playing and the orphanage is a place of fun again.

Accommodation has been put on hold as we have turned our efforts into looking for a vehicle, having a vehicle will allow us to get a feel for different area’s to live, as at the moment we are just taking everyone’s word for how safe an area is.
