My first Presentation in kreyol

We just arrived back from a 5 day trip around the central region of Haiti. All is well, appreciated your prayers. I will put some photos of this journey in next week’s blog.
Because of other postings on my blog - like Hurricane Sandy - sharing my time in Limbe with you got a bit postponed, but here it is. Many of you were praying for me that God will help me to speak kreyol.
I was asked to share about my work in Africa. So I prepared a power point presentation with photos.
Preparing the Presentation
In the capital people speak, write and understand kreyol and french, but people who live in villages, normally just speak for communicating in kreyol. Because I was not sure what kind of people group to expect, I wrote on the left side of the power point in kreyol and on the right in french. Of course, before I went, I let my kreyol teacher look over it and correct it.

On that Saturday around 70 - 80 Facilitator of the Self-Help-Groups (SHG) arrived and showed interest in my work.

Around 80 people were listening

Through the photos, people could get different impressions which helped them understand and giving them ideas which they could do and accomplish in the future. I showed several rabbit cages, pictures of beehives and harvesting, raising snails and I told them that in Ghana they recycle glass bottles making beads from it.

After the presentation, the person in charge asked what I had talked about and people remembered very well. Also they had lots of questions afterwards, just throwing some ideas around.
Now, I need to wait patiently for the facilitators to go back to their groups, to discuss the ideas, and hopefully some groups pick one up, which they would like to know more about it.
Andy was so proud of me how my first presentation in kreyol went, I liked that very much, smile.

Travelling through Haiti reminded us a lot of Guinea.

Long roads to travel
