Protests in Port-au-Prince

This is becoming a more regular occurrence. Pictures taken from our apartment on different days:

Fires burning in downtown

Smoke can be seen for miles

Police fired volleys of tear gas to break up a large march by demonstrators calling for President Martelly to step down. It was estimated that 5,000 protesters, some burning tyres and blocking streets in the congested capital.
The government has announced legislative elections to choose 112 deputies and 20 senators would be held on the 16th of October 2014, two years late.
Please pray for the political situation in Haiti.

Please also pray for us and all the other missionaries in Haiti. Protection is so vital. Pray for the Heinens family, who grieve for the loss of Gerrit. Here are some more details, if you want to get more information (written by Rebecca Barlow)

THANK YOU.
