To travel on African roads is very interesting. Usually in England and Germany we think, we can travel roughly 100km per hour. Here in Africa, when we say from Conakry to Mamou it is 300 km, our western mind switches automatically to the thought ‘oh it will be a 3 hours journey’. What we forget is that the road conditions are horrendous. It depends on where we are going, we find tarmac roads, which are very good, or we find dirt roads which are alright, but also these dirt roads have big holes in them. This makes travel very interesting, but it is also very tiring and exhausting, because as driver you have to watch every hole and maneuver around them.
So when we go on a journey we always add 2-3 hours plus, because we don’t know how the roads will look like. This is why we appreciate your prayers so much when we travel, because it is important that God sends his angels with us. We pray as well, that God will keep you safe on our way to work, church or wherever you might go. Thank you for thinking of us! We appreciate it!
