Eye Clinic

A colleague from a nearby town came for the three day clinic

Caroline's role was to repair and make sure the glasses fitted

Test for reading glasses

The Lion's had been given 5000 glasses from a laser eye clinic, that had asked those having surgery to donate their old glasses to a project in Africa.
Our colleagues in a nearby town were the recipients.
We organised three days in our city where people could buy a ticket and have a consultation and receive free glasses.
The tickets were limited to 60 per day. Over the three days we gave out 230 pairs of glasses, one pair to each person. Do the maths! When news got out the second and third day, we had way more than the delegated 60.

What a fantastic blessing giving people the ability to see clearly again. With 5000 pairs of glasses it was my job to fit the prescription to the pair of glasses and make sure they were the right size for the face. It sounds like 5000 is a lot, but when we had obscure prescriptions it was to find the closet pair that fitted. Most people wanted reading glasses, but when we had some who had not seen clearly for years, when they put the glasses on the face lit up and a huge smile filled their faces. It was all worth it just for those smiles. I was even thanked in the street the day after, one person stopped me in the middle of the street and said "Thank you Doctor I can see very well now"
Thank you for your support and prayers.
