Challenges

When you think of development, do you think of all the headaches that go along with the progress. Well, we were excited to hear that the road which is closest to our house was going to be repaired. We were not so happy on the first day of repairs that the earth-mover had cut through the city water pipe. No water. Now in the third week without water. We have learnt that the whole of our neighbourhood is out, with water pipes sticking out of the road all over. But the new road is shaping up. I visited the water company several times, they told me that they would not repair the pipe as it might be broken again. Now one advantage of living next to a school is that they have more clout than the average household. After the director of the school visited the water company the repair guys were sent to the broken pipe. The repair guys repaired the pipe to us and the school, they told me to wait for the water the next day. Now that night we heard loud noises of heavy equipment, I went out and to my astonishment there was a huge earth-mover churning up the road again. Guess what, he pulled up and broke the newly replaced pipes. Now there is no way they will repair it again. We are fortunate to have a well, some others are not so they have to take barrels and look for water. Pray that the situation is resolved quickly.
