Election

View this email in your browser
The roads throughout Guinea have not fared well during this rainy season, which started two months early and dropped a lot of rain throughout the season.
Now comes and even greater challenge.
This Sunday the 18th of October is the Presidential election.
This morning Friday the 16th, we awoke to the news that in a city on the main route into the interior, 8 hours from us, two military camps had been attacked overnight and the commander of one camp had been killed. The mutineers had looted the armoury of both camps and were parading around the city. At the same time in the capital an important bridge into the central district had been blocked by mutineers, although after several hours traffic was moving normally, and calm had returned.
This is a precarious time for the country.
Pray that this weekend's elections and the weeks to come will pass by without too much animosity and can be as peaceful and fair as possible.
Pray for the family of the commander killed last night.
We have enough supplies for three weeks and do not have to leave the compound if necessary. It's like being in quarantine again!
Thank you for your prayers and support.
