Back to life, back to reality

Do you know this song? With almost every song, I just remember the refrain.
I kind of woke up with it. I thought about the last 2 weeks: the retreat and staying with our friends. Just our life here in Mali, and how different it is to the life in Guinea.
In Mali we had comfort: swimming pool, good food: Chicken, Fish, Pizza, Chinese, Cakes, Fries, eggs, ice cubs in our drinks etc. I think there is nothing really we could not have had. Also we did not think all the time: is it “save” to eat or to drink.
So different to what we have here:
The question I have asked myself is: What is reality? Where is this reality? Is it in England, Guinea, Mali or Germany? Which one is “THE” real one, or is there any one “more” real than the other?

What is the internet saying about the word reality?
Reality as an Adjective has these synonyms: actuality, fact, truth, etc.
Also it gives an Example: It is important to deal with the reality not the potentiality of the situation.
The word Real as a Adjective has these synonyms: genuine, actual, true, existent, authentic, natural, material, physical, tangible, palpable, corporeal
Example: How can one distinguish between the real object and what one sees, which is merely its image.

I have also read, that reality means:
1. The state or quality of being real
2. Resemblance to what is real
3. The state of things as they are or appear to be, rather than as one might with them to be
4. A real thing or fact

For me the conclusion is: Wherever I am is reality. I will always have to adapt to different things: living conditions, life situations, and people around me. The things which are different are not right or wrong, they are JUST different.
It appears that life in Mali is better than life in Guinea. Yes, fact is, it is better developed. But I also think that I can make the best out of it, wherever I am.
People have also different callings on their lives. There are things I never would like to do, for example being a Dentist - other people love that job. I guess, God puts different passions and gifts into us, so we can serve wherever he has called us, this might be in Mali (in a richer environment) or in Guinea (in a poorer one), in England or Germany.
What we all need though, is Gods grace to live every day for his glory and to ask him for wisdom how we might change the reality we live in, for his kingdom.
