Did you ever wanted to have somebody who does the cooking, the cleaning, the washing and ironing for you? Yes, then you should come to Guinea, smile.
I guess, I am used to it a bit from living on the ship (even though it is different), but it is not so far off, having not to wash up after every meal.
Here in Macenta, we have a housemaid, who comes twice a week. Monday she usually does the washing of the cloths and the cooking. And Wednesday she does the ironing and cleaning.
The first day she arrived she made a big impression on me, because she did a marvellous job with my light coloured trousers. Everybody tells you, light colors are the best to keep mosquitoes away, I haven’t experienced that and if they do want to bite, they do, it doesn’t matter, what color you have on.
Anyway, my creamy trousers were so dirty on the bottom from traveling and walking during rainy season. But after she was finished with them, they looked totally clean. I tried in the wash machine, in Mali, but they did not come out as clean.
I enjoyed my day with her, because I always wanted to learn how to cook African food. I honestly like the Liberian food better. Not quite sure what they do differently, but it was a good experience for me, as well trying to make myself understood with French.
All in all we are doing very well, probably thanks to your prayers. We feel definitely covered by them. It is good to know to have churches standing behind us, who lift us up in prayers. How else could we do our work! Thank you very much. We appreciate it.
