Good 'old' wedding ring

I just wanted to share with you what happened to me today and tell you how aware I am of Gods protection.

The orphanage has a big metal gate, which gets opened and closed usually from the security guard - sometimes though he is nowhere to be found. The gate is very hard to pull open, so it needs all my strength, effort and speed to get it rolling.

I should have learned from the first accident I had one time. Our guard dog, because he was still young, he came up to play with me. I told him to go off somewhere else, because I was about to open the gate. I turned my back on him and started to pull. Suddenly, I felt a little stop, but I still pushed. The awful noise of a screaming dog made me stop and turn around. He had lay down, and got his tail caught underneath the rolling gate. Oh, oh, it was dreadful, because to free him, I needed to roll the gate backwards. What for a crying, half of his tail hung of and it needed to be disinfected and days later be cut off. I felt so terrible and I said over and over again (not that he ever could understand one word): I am sorry, I am sorry. It took approximately two weeks for his tail to heal and grow hair on again.

Anyway, what does the dog has to do with my story from today. Nothing, but the gate does. The security guard, again, was not to be found, so I decided to open the gate. As I opened it, I was so happy to get the right speed. What I did not consider was that at the other end, where the handle hits the metal piece, there is no space for my hand.

It did a big bang. And I just realized that my hand got caught between the metal post and the gate. I looked at my hand, and I saw that my wedding ring looked like a link in a chain, flat like a pancake and in between was my finger.
Because it was not bleeding, and we were on the way to the garage, where we were expected for a meeting, we thought they will have a tool to open the ring.

We arrived and there it was: a vice. So I stuck my finger in and we opened it slowly.

Here you can see how the ring looked after.

I am so aware of Gods protection. If I would not have worn my wedding ring, my whole hand would have been broken. It is a bit bruised and swollen, but nothing more, praise God!

The end of the story: I better let somebody else open the gate; I tell you: I am not touching it again.
