Successful Sunday

Grand Goave has already established SHG's running. Today we were privilege to see one. It was the second furtherest away. We drove up and up the mountain. Went around a corner, where we saw that a big lorry had been stuck in the mud for a while, and they were still trying to dig him out. The truck and trees prevented us from going further.  So we needed to drive all the way back to the main road, took an alternative route, crossed a riverbed, and kept climbing.
Dry riverbed we crossed
After about one hour drive we had to leave the car to continue by foot. This showed us how unfit we are, smile. I needed to take two breaks in 45 minutes. Here you can see the road we took.
Walking up the hill
We just arrived, when the heavens opened. The meeting was in a church which was built from tin sheets, it was so hard for us to hear and understand what has been said. The rain made so much noise on the roof, Jutta had to move seats because the drips gathered pace upon her head.

Women shared testimonies how SHG has improved their quality of life. One lady spoke about how she was able to buy fuel and sell it on for a profit. They started August 2011, with no start-up capital, now they have 13500 gourds (211 Pounds), which they lend to each other for micro-business.

We actually wanted to see another group, which the rainfall prevented. This was a bit disappointing, but all in all it was a good day. We arrive safe and sound back home.
